About Harmonie

Harmonie is the brainchild of boutique owner & style expert Laura Abeyta, who opened up shop on Abbot Kinney Boulevard, one of Los Angeles’ premiere shopping districts in the artsy Venice neighborhood, in October 2004. By creating a total lifestyle destination featuring “one-stop shopping”, Harmonie quickly became the favorite boutique of A-list celebrities such as neighbor Julia Roberts and in-the-know stylists from shows like The OC by stocking each season’s “must-haves”. Los Angeles fashionistas followed suite, flocking to Laura’s boutique for her meticulously edited collection and the kind of hands-on, personalized customer service rarely found in LA’s celebrity-obsessed market.

From the very beginning, seasonal visitors to her Los Angeles boutique begged Laura to create a website where they could shop her collection from their far-flung cities of origin. In response to this increasing demand, Laura launched shopharmonie.com in the spring of 2007. By faithfully recreating her unique boutique experience in the form of an interactive and content rich website, Laura has brought her exquisite taste and exceptional customer service to discerning fashion lovers everywhere.

As a boutique owner and stylist, Laura is consistently tapped by fashion publications such as In Style and Lucky Magazine for spotting the latest trends. She also appears regularly on E! News Daily, with advice to help viewers obtain the most current celebrity looks and sought-after red-carpet styles. Laura can also be seen on such shows as the Style Network’s “How Do I Look?” dishing out fashion do’s & don’t’s for the stylistically impaired and is currently in development of her own style show.

Nearly eclipsing her success in the fashion world, Laura has also managed to parlay her work as a sought-after style expert with her sincere commitment to humanitarian and philanthropic work. Through her Los Angeles boutiques as well as this website, Laura donates a percentage of every single sale to the Harmonie Foundation, a non-profit organization she is establishing to support the educational needs of disadvantaged children throughout the developing world.

Laura’s first ambition is to create a school for children in Bali, Indonesia, a country with which Abeyta has developed a strong affinity since first traveling the archipelago in the early 90’s. Her vision is to have the poorest children from each village attend the school for free while providing financial aid to their families who would otherwise depend on their children’s labor as a source of much needed income. The hope is to develop a template in Indonesia and then open other schools in areas around the world where rural and urban communities alike are in dire need of such educational support.

So along with getting the latest fashions and expert style advice, you can feel good that a portion of your purchase made at shopharmonie.com goes to support a very worthwhile cause. Who says that fashion doesn’t have a conscience?
